What HiLo Is and How It Works
HiLo is one of the simplest casino games you can play. A card is shown face up, and you predict whether the next card will be higher, lower, or the same value. If you guess correctly, your multiplier increases and you can either cash out or continue guessing. If you guess wrong, the round is over and you lose your bet.
The beauty of HiLo is in the streak mechanic. Each correct prediction builds on the previous one, creating a cumulative multiplier that grows with every successful guess. A single correct prediction might pay 1.08x, but five correct predictions in a row can push the multiplier well into double digits. The longer the streak, the bigger the potential reward - and the higher the tension.
The Math Behind Each Prediction
HiLo probabilities are based on a standard 52-card deck. When you see a card, the chance of the next card being higher or lower depends entirely on the current card value. A 2 (lowest) gives you a 92.3% chance of guessing "higher" correctly, but the payout for that safe bet is low - around 1.08x. A 7 (middle) creates a true coin flip: 46.2% chance of higher and 46.2% chance of lower, each paying about 2.17x.
The "Same" bet is the riskiest option. With only 7.7% probability in most positions, it offers the highest single-prediction multiplier - roughly 13x. Experienced players use it selectively, typically when the cumulative multiplier is already high enough to justify the risk.
The key insight is that your multiplier compounds across the streak. If your first prediction pays 1.44x and your second pays 2.17x, your total multiplier is 1.44 x 2.17 = 3.12x. This compounding effect is what makes long streaks so valuable - and so rare.
Why HiLo Appeals to a Different Kind of Player
Unlike Crash or Dice where the mechanic is abstract and number-driven, HiLo uses physical cards that everyone understands intuitively. You do not need to learn probability formulas - you can see the card, assess the risk naturally, and make a gut decision. That accessibility is what draws players who might find other crypto casino games intimidating.
The decision-making is also more varied than in most instant games. Each card presents a unique situation. A 3 is almost always "higher." A King is almost always "lower." But a 7 or 8 forces a genuine 50/50 choice, and those moments are where the game becomes truly engaging.
The cash-out decision adds another layer. After every correct prediction, you choose: take the money or keep going. That recurring exit decision, combined with a growing multiplier, creates the same addictive loop as Crash - but with the added dimension of card-by-card risk assessment.
HiLo Across Platforms: Who Offers What
HiLo is available on several crypto casino platforms and game studios. Stake Original HiLo offers Higher/Lower/Same mechanics with a 99% RTP and streak-based multipliers. Spribe and BC.Game have their own versions with similar mechanics.
The standout version is Gamdom HiLo, which is currently the only platform offering HiLo with 100% RTP. Gamdom achieves this through their standard model: 99% base RTP in the game math, with the remaining 1% returned through their rakeback system.
Notably, neither Duel nor MetaWin currently offer a HiLo game in their Originals lineup. This makes Gamdom the exclusive destination for players specifically seeking a zero-edge HiLo experience.
